Dr. Kendall serves as the Assistant Vice President of Mission and Identity and Associate Professor of Theology at Concordia University Chicago. He served as a pastor for twenty years. Dr. Kendall was Associate Pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa, from 2002–2008. He then served as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowell, Indiana, from 2008–2020. He came to St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Illinois, in 2020, where he served as Associate Pastor. Dr. Kendall served as an adjunct professor at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, from 2015–2021, teaching in the deaconess program. Dr. Kendall graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and received a Master of Divinity degree in 2002. He would go on to get a Ph.D. in missiology at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. In 2021, Dr. Kendall had a chapter included in a book in honor of Dr. William Weinrich titled, One of the Holy Trinity Suffered for Us: Essays in Honor of William C. Weinrich. His chapter is titled, “No Longer Ἔθνη: Paul’s Use of the Old Testament in 1 Corinthians.” In addition, he has written articles in The Lutheran Witness and For the Life of the World. Dr. Kendall currently serves on the Unity and Civility Committee, which has the task of helping build courses for Concordia University Chicago. In addition, he served as the chair of the Northern Illinois District Taskforce on Multiethnic Mission and Ministry. He continues to teach continuing education courses for church workers at Concordia Theological Seminary. He is married to Stacie (31 years), and they have two children and a grandson.
